I copied an image file off the web to the clipboard. Then I selected about 15 files in MC and right clicked to paste image from clipboard. Three of the MP3 files (in one directory) worked fine and "took" the image, and the remaining 12 MP3 files did not: they defaulted to the c:\...\Data\Cover Art\... instead of the Inside File. That is what really has me confused, during one operation, some files worked and some didn't!
I have checked in both Explorer and WinSCP that these files are not read-only. That was my first guess. I was also able to change dates/genres/etc on these files. So I am fairly sure it's not a file rights issue, but I am _no_ expert
Thanks for helping chase this annoyance down!
One thing is cool: when MMJB plays the internal-image MP3 files, the images show up no problem. Don't worry, I only use MMJB to test out compatibility.
UPDATE: I just noticed a major difference between the files! And the problem must be in the naming convention of the image files within the MP3 Files. I was dealing with 3 files from Jimi Hendrix/"Are You Experienced" (1997 Remastered Version) and 12 files from Jimi Hendrix/"Are You Experienced?" Note the lack of the "?" on the end of the first three files. This must cause major wildcard confusion inside MS/Windows. After I removed the "?" and removed the old cover art (pointing to another file) I was able to paste the original image file in there: and it "took!"
So, I guess you have to watch it when non-alpha characters are at the end of an artist/album name! It would be a luxury feature, but maybe MC could trap these characters before they cause trouble internally. I would prefer to keep the titles (e.g. "Are You Experienced?") as they appear on the album. If not, maybe a note in the Cover Art help section would be in order?
I will keep testing and post if there are any other issues with the cover art.
Much praise for the MC team!
Thanks!
