not playing?
« on: November 19, 2002, 07:10:11 am »

In MJ8, it will play the first cut from a CD, but if I go to another cut it justs opens and stops instantaneously. I cannot play another cut~!?

Any ideas?

thanks

In MJ check your Settings>Options>Device Settings...is the Use Digital Playback option checked? What happens if you pop a CD in (and MJ is the default Autoplayer)...does it move smoothly from track to track on playback?

It plays the first cut... if I try to play another, it says "opening" then "stopped"... ?

Maybe RealPlayer is the way to go!

thanks

You've got to explain better what your doing (step by step). Post your sys info from Help>System Info.

3D,

Could be a bad install. Do the following...

Backup License...Uninstall MJ...Update ASPI (if not v4.72)...Reinstall MJ...Restore License.

Try that...see what happens

Did you try switching the CD settings from digital to analog?

Are you selecting the entire CD in the tree and then pressing the play button?

Jim~

Well, I have to say that your support is amazing!
Switching to analog playback has solved the problem of playing individual tracks (I've been right clicking and hitting play) but when I press the "next" button on the bottom left, nothing happens. >?

thanks!

Ooops.
I see that the "next" button is not for the next cut, but for fast forward. No NEXT CUT button?

Also, since I reinstalled, I have no visualizations or slide show (plugin).

thanks again.

The player buttons that look like << and >> are for last and next track.  These buttons are in the player window in the lower left corner of MJ.

For slide show, try reinstalling the plug-in.

For visualizations, try a right click on the display screen when you're playing music.

There is Help in MJ.

I sure thought that the "next" and "previous" buttons were for tracks, but they fast forward and rewind!!??

And the Visualizations says that it must be Digital Playback for it to work... and we've got it on analog since digital didn't work.

You're correct.  Visualizations won't work when playback is analog.  Digital playback doesn't always work.

If the player buttons aren't doing next track/last track, you may have other problems with the OS or with the drivers for the CD player.
