Suggestion: Edit tags/move files as part of Import
« on: November 18, 2002, 11:33:41 am »

When you right-click on a file in Explorer, there is a pop-up menu with a Media Jukebox sub-menu that allows you to Play, Add to Playing Now, Import and Edit.

That's nice, but many times a file that you want to Import may be in a different folder than you really want it to be (like your music download folder) and the tags may not be correct or complete. If you use the MJ Import function from the pop-up, it ends up cataloging the file in its temporary location and, if the tags are incorrect or incomplete, then the file gets improperly cataloged too.

I know you can then go into the Recently Imported list and make corrections from there, but if you change artist and/or album tags, MJ leaves an empty (incorrect) artist/album item in the media listing, that you then have to remember to delete.

It would be much easier and a great enhancement if when you right-click a file in Explorer and select the Media Jukebox option, if you added the pop-up options: Move (allows you to specify where you want the file moved to), Edit Tags (brings up MJ's tag editor), and a Move/Edit/Import function that would allow you to specify where you want the file moved to, bring up tag editing and then import the file.

To avoid confusion, the existing "Edit" pop-up option probably should be renamed to "Media Editor" to be consistent with the Tools menu option that brings up the sound editor.

In addition to the "Add to Playing Now" pop-up option, it would be nice to have an "Add to Playing Now (next to play)" when you right-click a file in Explorer.
