JRiver Deskbar -- Update 2
« on: May 17, 2004, 04:33:06 pm »

There's a spiffy new desktop bar from JRiver that gives you quick access to your music (and lots of other useful stuff) at any time.

More info (from the initial release) is available here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=21418

The latest version of the JRiver Deskbar can be downloaded here: http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/tmp/JRDeskBar.mjp

Update 2 Changes / Improvements:
1. Fixed: Not all browsers (MyIE2, etc.) would properly open when running URL type commands.
2. Fixed: System would unselect all toolbars when reloading Windows is JRiver Deskbar was enabled.
3. NEW: Added some more functionality to Playing Now tab.
4. NEW: Added webpage command (w) -- adds www and .com when necessary. (examples: w yahoo; w download; w slashdot.org)
5. NEW: Supports file drag-n-drop to quickly start files playing.
6. Changed: Popup pages loaded dynamically for maximum speed.
7. Fixed: Math expression evaluator was not handling variables properly. (example: x=3;y=4;z=x*y;z*4 returns 48)
8. NEW: Pressing UP / DOWN in the search box will scroll through previous commands.

Installation:
1) Ensure that you have MC 10.0.134 or later installed.
2) Install the above component (right-click > Save As > then run the downloaded mjp)
3) Right-click on taskbar / start menu area and choose Toolbars > JRiver DeskBar (some computers may require a few clicks or a restart for this to show up)
4) Turn off the system clock to save space since the JRiver bar doubles as a clock
5) Use it (right-click on the bar to see commands -- note that you can also just type the commands once you learn them)

Uninstallation:
1) Turn off the toolbar like when you turned it on.
2) Optionally unregister JRDeskBar.dll in the MC directory with regsvr32.exe /u C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\JRDeskBar.dll then delete JRDeskBar.dll.
3) Restart computer

Enjoy :)

DISCLAIMER: This component is a beta. It may not work.  It may not be available at a later date.  It may not remain free.  It may not be included with MC 10.  Use it at your own risk.  Copyright (C) 2004 JRiver, Inc.  All rights reserved.

I used to like to play on the monkeybars when I was a kid :)

After a little playing I was wondering is there anyway to turn off te beep whenever a command is executed??  I am using FireFox so do not know if this is FF specific or part of the dekbar itself...

Cheers

Could you fix the sig fic problem with the calc?
fx 1+1 = 2,0000000 ... which is wrong. It equals 2 or 2, (depends). Or   if nothing els, make is as the win calc and keep all decimals until continues 0.
It would also be kindda cool if it 'understood' mjextman commands. Fx write power in it would turn mc on/off.

Thanks-

Right click to get a calander.  Expand the box to display both date and time.

This may just be in the non-U.S. versions of Windows.  It works in the U.S. version.  1+1=2

When I click on anything in "commands" then "run" media center crashes.

And when I click on the "x" while in "Calendar" media center also closes.

Also, could the result be kept when the type area isn't highlighted. It useful when you need to add it to a document.

I used to use the google deskbar which is similar but have switched to this one, much better. In the google one, you can add your own website searches. I had added the All Music Guide (as used by Media Center for Artist Info), so I could type in a band name and hit ctrl B and up would pop the details.

Any chance the All Music Guide could be incorporated as a command in the MC deskbar, or make it customisable so I could add it myself?

Thanks Skeet.

Customizable is on the way.  You can see the skeleton in the "Commands" tab already.

I am using and was using MC .38 with this problem. its still happening for me. Whenever i press the x to close (any of) the tabs MC also immediately closes. Not every time with every tab though. but probably 80-90% of the time that i try.

When I click on anything in "commands" then "run" media center crashes.

And when I click on the "x" while in "Calendar" media center also closes.

Deskbar -- Search Request
« Reply #34 on: May 19, 2004, 10:01:35 am »

Pretty please could you add a search command for Amazon? I know Deskbar will be customizable in the near future but some search strings are not obvious from their URL. I can do an Amazon search with Daves Searchbar but I can't figure out the search string to build my own search command to use in MyIEs search capabilities (or JRiver).

I use Amazon not only for shopping but also for their album reviews.

Hi Matt,

Still the same prob with task bar Rev 2 when searchin+playing whole albums :
sometimes the track sequence appears to be random when it is always in the right sequence when using MC's internal search box.
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=21418;start=50

Using task bar Update 2 with MC 10.0.138
