audible books from iTMS crashes media jukebox
« on: July 30, 2004, 10:01:21 am »

Some fairly recent purchases from the iTMS, two of the audio books I have crash media jukebox.  I can play all of my older purchases fine, music or audio books.  These purchases were after the iTunes 4.6 upgrade.  I  haven't tried buying any music recently.

Are these issues seen by anyone else?  I was running the .149, but also tried the .150 release.

Mooseman,

Can you play the files in Quicktime?

I downloaded a few more, speeches from the DNC as well as the 9/11 commission exec summary are currently free, all of them crash with Media Center, but will play in iTunes as well as simply using quicktime.  I also downloaded their free song of the week, and it plays just fine.  Really strange.

If you'll post a link to files that won't work, maybe someone else can confirm the problem.

I don't know how to link to an iTMS song, but from the home page of the store thev have the 9/11 commission report as well as the DNC speeches I mention above.  If someone can describe how to create a link, I'd be happy to link directly to the files I'm having issues with.  The files I mention are currently free downloads.

Links to the iTMS file?  As I'm saying, I have no idea how to create a link to a file in the iTMS.  Do you mean put the exact file I'm having issues with somewhere that you can download it?   If so, I'll put up 2 files shortly.

Well just happens that my host does a search for media on their servers the morning after I post that.  I had to take it down. :(

So I zipped the file.

mooseman,

I could not use the links you posted. I did go to Audible and download the Obama speech from the DNC. I first tried to download the file using Firefox as my browser. The file donwloaded, but would not play. I then used IE and the file played fine in MC.  Could you try with that file and let me know the results.

typo in the url, should have been files, instead of file.  It's fixed now. though it is a m4b.

I'll try out the file directly from audible when I get home tonight.

Downloading the .aa file, and trying to open it with media center, it just pops up a window "Please Select a File(s) to Play".

mooseman,

Does the file import into MC? Try dragging and dropping the file onto Media Library.  If it imports, right click and select 'Play'. If you still get that message, please tell me what browser you are using.

Thanks,

Trying to import the file shows

Files Scanned:  1
Files Imported: 0

Dragging the file onto media jukebox, I get the same "please select file to play".

I'm using IE.

Here's a link to the free speeches on iTMS:

mooseman,

I downloaded Bill Clinton's speech using ITMS and the file would not play for me in Quicktime, so it does not surprise me that it would not play in MC. The file was type m4b.  My test the other day was downloading the file using Audible Manager and the file I donwloaded was .aa. This file played in Quicktime and with MC.
