MC as default player -- how?
« on: August 28, 2004, 03:56:14 pm »

I just upgraded my system to XP from ME.  Also got more memory and a new drive.  Problem is, the shop lost all my data on the old drive so I have to re-format MC from the start.

I need to know how to make MC my default player and any other settings I should make right off the bat in MC and my Windows Media Player.

Also, I don't have Quicktime or a Real player anymore.  I'll be downloading them, so I could use some guidance on how to configure them as well.

Thanking you in advance....

I might be wrong, but you should be able to do most of that from the tools>options menu in MC.  As for Real and quicktime, when I lost everything and had to reformat a little while back, I just installed them and didn't do anything else as far as config. went, and everything in MC is working fine.  Bet

Hi David!

You don't have to anything with WinMP.

With Quicktime you don't really have to do anything either but download and install it and forget it.

During the installation proccess for Realplayer, when it gets to the point where you have to choose the file types, just scroll thru the list and uncheck everything.

Also when asked to install desktop, taskbar and quick-launch icons, I choose no (you can always startup Realplayer from the start menu if you ever find a need - I haven't for at least a year!).

As for MC, go to Tool>options>file associations: check all, check: Associate With Audio CDs, and : Always Take Control Of File Types.

Next: Options>General: Enable Media Scheduler.

The rest is optional, I have MC set to disable the splash screen (options>startup settings) and startup in MegaMe.

Good Luck!

Whether earth belongs to God is still being discussed, but "Thanks!".

Fair enough.  While I try to figure out the God thing, would someone please remind me how to make MC my default player?

Thanks!
