Security flaw in Winamp - Can MC be affected?
« on: August 30, 2004, 08:54:09 am »

Last week a news was published concerning a security flaw in Winamp because of the way it loads a skin.  Since Winamp skins can be used with MC, i was wondering as a MC user if i should it should be worried by this news.

At first glance, I don't see how, but we'll take a closer look.  Thanks for posting the link.

This bug concerns winamp 5.
As far as I know MC can only use Winamp 2 skins, there should be no problem using them.

I was wondering if implementing a (safe) skining engine into MC that allows the use of winamp 5's skins is :
  - something possible?
  - something that can insterest MC users?
  - something we could hope for?

:)

CDvd is correct.  This problem is for skins MC does not support.

We probably won't support Winamp 5 skins.

That's been possible since I first came in (version 7 something). You download a WinAmp skin and install it via the skin manager. Simple as that. Of course this is only possible with mini-me skins.
