Upgraded to XP - Can't Burn
« on: November 01, 2002, 04:26:43 am »

After upgrading to Xp Home Edition, caused MJ errors when burning, " Track mode is incompatible with existing track type ". FAQ lists that this could be software causing "formatting" of CD. Can anyone suggest how I can find where this problem may be originating? I've followed the suggestions without success. I currently have v7 (unregistered). If I uninstall MJ, do I loss my Media Library and Playlist. If I upgrade to v8, will my Media files be saved?

Upgraded from what OS?

Since your unregistered, ignore any mention of "License" or the *.rrg below.

Copy your MediaJukebox7.rrg file (in your MJ directory) to a floppy and to safe place on your hard drive. Uninstall MJ (if uninstall doesn't work, then just reinstall over top of old installation. Copy your *.rrg file back to your MJ directory. In MJ run the Help>Restore License.

If you want to upgrade to v8 then you'll want to go through this exact same process again.

All your media files will still be intact (not sure about your playlists).

It might be best to keep these rrg licenses (older style MJ license) on a floppy AND in "My Documents" or another similar directory that gets backed up.  There is no need to keep it in the MJ program directory.

Your right, but by default that's where it's found.
