Finding Posts...
« on: October 29, 2004, 09:46:19 pm »

I hate to post this here, but I must be blind, so forgive me...I cannot find a place to poste a question about How to Use the forum, or problems re: the forum.

So quickly -

I never can find my posts. I search, by user, enter my userid, EWINGR, and it finds nothing.

I find no selection for "Your Posts". And nothing in the help.

Is it impossible? Or can someone give me some tips?

Click your ID on the left above and it will take you to your profile. At the bottom, it lets you search for the last few posts you have made (up to a fairly large value for "few").

John just beat me to it. Actually, the options for viewing are 5, 10, 50, or All.

Yeah, well, the flaw with this method is that one has to find one's post first before he or she and click on his or her name to find his or her posts.  Chicken and the egg syndrome...  :P 8)

Your username is listed under Users online in the General section of the forum. Clicking on this will also take you to your profile where you can search for previous posts.

Is the search case sensitive and are you using the correct case?  I use the above method all the time (including last night) and it works great!

Tim

I used lower case, just like my user name appears. No go.

How about you trying to find my posts and see if they show up for you. I have never succeeded.

I will try the method mentioned earlier, from my profile. That's a new one on me. I visit several Forums, and have never had to go to my profile to look. That's fine with me though, as long as I can find my messages.

Tried it...works fine.

One caveat though.... you MUST search for something. You can't search for all posts by you (i.e. Just enter your name in the appropriate slot). You must search for some text, even if it's just the letter "e".

So it might look like:

Search for:
e
by user:
ewingr

Using that... I get 18 results, which matches your post count.
