Is MJ8 dead?
« on: October 28, 2002, 09:33:58 pm »

Knew that subject would get your attention.

Is MJ8 development about dead?  I notice that there's not much action on this forum lately, and a fair amount on the MJ9 forum.  I hope it's not dead, because lots of users aren't ready to move to 9 yet, and there are still things in 8 that could use a bit of tweaking.

JimH, did you decide if/how you will market the full (with video) product and the reduced (without video) product?  At one point, you were thinking about continuing MJ8 as the latter and MJ9 as the former.  Just curious.

MJ8 is not dead.  The last build was a week ago.  The next build should be a few days away.

When V9 is released, it will be our Media Center product.  V8 will continue as Media Jukebox.  Sometime later, we will probably replace V8 with a stripped down V9, so we will have two products, MJ and MC, but they will be built from the same source.

At least, that's today's plan.

Scronch - I thought it was:
v8 without GRAPHICS not without video.
Graphics have no audio and dont have the same properties as songs at all and so aren't something I'd want MJ to do.

Video's on the other hand do.
I have quite a few music video's in my collection.

Video has audio which is what MJ does, graphics dont.

Jim told only about a a stripped down V9. Are the non-included features of the future MJ9 (vs MC9) already decided so you can say that ?

We'll make decisions each time we release.  It's too early to say what the product feature sets will be, but the feedback we got when this was discussed at length on Interact was split.  Some people wanted a "music only" product and others wanted an "all media" product.

Video, TV, DVD, and images probably belong in the "all media" product.

Jim - maybe you could introduce a few bugs into the next v8 build? It's too trouble free.

Man...I knew that.

"You Go Girl" is one of those gender independent slang phrases which translated means "I honor you as an exact yet plain speaking person"

This one I use with the kids:
Quit Jaggin Dat Jumbo!  (Kindly stop playing with your food)

Barbequeing:
My Weiner's On Far  (My hotdog is on fire)

And when drunk in Minnesota:
U say we're where?.....Schwinn Twitties?  (Twin Cities)

My favorite over-censored song is Real Fu<bleep>ing Sh<bleep>bags, played not too long ago by a radio station in Minneapolis.

HIGH DEFINITION!

"Yo - Can I bum a person as my shag has gone bollocks..." has a completely different meaning in the UK....  ::)

Kinda reversed swearing really when you think about it...
