Updating tags from "client" Media Center
« on: November 22, 2004, 04:26:02 pm »

Updating a tag such as "album" is straight forward when I'm doing it thru Media Center that is running on the PC where the music files reside.

Here's my question:  Can I also update the tags from another instance of Media Center running on a networked PC (which is accessing the same media files thru Media Server running on the host PC)?  To date I have changed the tags thru MC, however when I restart Media Center on the networked PC none of the changes are reflected.

Media Server is a read-only streaming connection.  You cannot write back to the master database from the client.

The only way to update the database from client machines is to share the library via network file sharing, not through the media server.
Gotta be careful doing so, that only one pc at a time runs MC, otherwise you can corrupt the database.

That's the answer I had anticipated, as well as the work around.  Thanks for the near instant response!
