???I just got a NEX II player that came with media jukebox and don't know how to use it to get albums of MP3s from my hard drive into the player or even onto a compact flash card. Here's the problem. I can copy the MP3s directly from the hard drive but these are downloaded and the album title (and order) are not in the file name. The files are in a common folder so you can't tell by looking whaich album they are from. Media Jukebox has this info. Is there a way to copy the MP3s to the player using the Media Jukebox info?

You usually have to install the software that includes the drivers for the player.  Then MJ may find it if it appears as a "drive" to Windows.

The driver isn't the problem. I can find the compact flash card in the player or in a card reader. I want to use the MJ info to put an album on the flash card using MJ's ability to organize MP3s by album or artist, since on my drive, the MP3 files are all in a single folder. I have figured out how to do it by selcting artist, sorting by album, and copying one album at a time to the flash card, but I'd like MJ to make a folder on the flash card with the album name. Is this possible? It would be a nice feature if it doesn't.

Hello.

It sounds like the ID3 tag information has not been written to your MP3 files so that, while MJ's database has all the info, the files themselves do not.  You can verify this by opening the files in WinAmp or another player. Does the other player see the author/album information?

You can make MJ copy the ID3 tag information from its database into the MP3 files. First, make sure that ID3 support is enabled in Options. Also, make sure your mp3 files are writeable.

Select all the files in the Content View, right-click, and choose "Properties...".  In the lower right side of the dialog box, choose "Update All Files" in the combo box.  Click Save.

The track info appears correctly in WMP7. ID3 support was already enabled in options.

There is no "Update All Properties" in the Media File Properties box.

All I really want to do is get an album of MP3s onto a CF card in the same track order as the CD. I'm still mystified how to do this. Everything is in alphabetical order, and even if I get it sorted manually in MJ, it still reverts to alpha when copied.

Even MJ can't even get the tracks ordered correctly, and the track info is there because it's in the file name when you copy it. Most of my MP3s come from entire CDs .

Try changing the settings so when you copy a cd it creates the filename with that info.  There are a lot of possibilities, for example:

artist - album- track# - title
artist\album\track# - title
track# - title

For the files that you have already copied, and assuming the ID3 tag properties are correct, you can use MJ to Rename Files From Properties.

Thanks, but even if the first two characters of the filename is the tack number, MJ doesn't keep them on order.

If I rearrange the order manually, moving them to the handheld outs them back in alphabetical order.

MJ can't do what you ask.
It can "Rename Files from Properties" which will create new directories as necessary for the "Artist-Album-Genre" template that you choose, but in doing so will MOVE the files rather than COPY them.

I agree, what you suggest would be a handy facility.

Oops.  Now that I have mentioned it as desirable it's chances of implentation just took a nosedive, as my suggestions usually meet with automatic antipathy.

I'm now mystified why  the maker of my NEX II poratable player provides Media Jukebox with the player if it can't move an album onto it. It appears that none of the "jukebox" allow moving an album, in original track order, onto a removable drive.
