cddb and yadb
« on: December 30, 2004, 11:43:10 pm »

Hello there==

I have updated about 350 cd's to gracenote cddb and now have had a hd failure and need to rip my whole collection back into MJ. I also have winamp which is cddb activated
Please outline the procedure for recalling the music details from cddb and saving them to yadb
Is there any chance that you will become cddb liscenced- I find the use of yadb an unnessessary annoyance.
I really like mj but I will not upgrade unless I can get cddb access
I am still using mj 8 for this very reason
regards fred evans

About 3 Years Ago JRiver Stopped Using CDDB

When A Company Terminates There Agreement With GraceNote, They Allow CDDB To Work For 1 Year Ater That CDDB Will Not Work.

I Think Your Two Years Past That Date

If you only had backups... You should backup at least the MJ media library. I backup also media files. I have about 25000 and it would be too much work to rip and collect them again. Sooner or later a HD failure will happen.

If you don't find your albums from YADB you could try Exact Audio Copy for ripping and import the files to MJ8 afterwards. EAC uses freedb CD database. Of course it would be better for other MJ/MC users if you could fill the information and send it to YADB.

Thanks for the feed back-- I will download and register with the software recommended  but at the moment I am doing the same thing with winamp and it is a bit of a schlep.

A question regarding YADB. The YADB subject arised in FAQ only at CD rip.
How to update through YADB or some similar datasource the ID tag of a file already encoded in mp3 but incorrectly tagged ?
Is there away to do that in mj8Plus ?
(on musicmatch it is available as "supertagging")

Many thanks in advance.

It's called track lookup in JRiver Media Center.

Thanks for these very good news.
To get this MJ feature I need at least MC9 I suppose.
Unfortunately, I bought MJ 8 Plus on January 25, 2005 for a similar price than MJ Center10. On the FAQ, it is indicated that my License MJ8.0400 works with MJ Center9 but I cannot download MJCenter9 anymore !
I would like to get this feature but I am not ready to pay an additional $25 on the top of the $20 paid 1 week ago. Especidally, I am only interesting in AUdio features.
Is it possible to upgrade MJ8 to MC10 for the price difference #$5?
Is it possible to download free MC9 in order to get this "Track Lookup" feature with my MJ8 license ?

Many thanks for your reply.
