Media/UPnP Server and REW/FF
« on: February 04, 2005, 07:46:13 am »

I think I commented some time ago about the fact that the http bit of media server in MC10 doesn't seem to handle jumping to a specific position in the file when a client requests it.

This wasn't really THAT big a deal previously - officially, MC handled it OK, and the fact that I was trying to use the HTTP server bit to stream the music to something else made it not really a supported thing to do anyway.

But I noticed that the UPnP server seems to have the same issue - I've got a Netgear MP101, and if I rewind or fast forward through the track, it actually jumps back to the start of the track, though the MP101 doesn't realise that because it's said "OK, I'm rewinding, send me the file from position X" and just assumes that the server really has done that.

Could you add this onto the list of things to look at in MC11 when you get the chance?

The UPnP stuff is absolutely brilliant now and I'm really happy to be able to hook something else up to MC, but this one thing is the only thing for me that isn't quite right yet :-)
