Is the Orientation tag properly supported in MC11?

I still haven't made the upgrade from MC10 to 11 and primarily use Photoshop Elements for image support and management.  However I use MC for HTPC stuff and so do slideshows from it.  However MC 10 doesn't currently properly read the orientation tag from photos.  And worse, when I rotate a photo in MC it screws up the photo so it no longer displays properly in Elements.

Note that orientation is set by my camera (Canon SD300) when the photo is taken.  That way, portrait pictures are recognized as such automatically in Elements.

You may be able to "un-orient" the image in Elements and then rotate it in MC.

JPG file rotation is lossless in MC.

I guess that still doesn't answer my original question.  Is MC11 properly handling orientation tags (as compared to current implementation in MC10).

MC does tag JPG files.  The JPG standard allows for tags in the header.

I don't think there is anything besides the global "Update tags when file info changes".

The first tags are EXIF. MC made the second tags.

Actually, there should be a separate option for images. I keep my original image files unaltered (including the file dates), but I could use MC library for them if there was that option.

MC image tags are completely innocuous and easy to remove.

You can make files read-only if you don't want anything changing them.

It looks like the MC's proprietary tags do not disturb other EXIF aware programs. So I guess it is OK.

Actually I am more concerned about the file dates.

However, sometimes the dates seem to change anyway. I have recently often discovered that in many folders all files have new dates without an apparent reason.

I would like to use MC for renaming the files from tags, so "read-only" is not an option.

Since the original dates are saved in EXIF, perhaps I could stop worrying about the dates and include the [Date (filename friendly)] string when renaming the files with MC. In that way I could see also with Windows Explorer when the photos were taken.
