I need more info - who is crashing? TiVo or Media Center?

The TiVo log messages are about known issues, they wouldn't cause a crash.

Are you converting to MP3 format? Does it always happen on the same file?

John,
Well as I select music on Tivo the message is sometimes displayed that the "server ancountered and error" on my television (Tivo).  When I go look at the Tivo server in MC, those are the messages I get.

I am transcoding files into MP3 files.  It's possible it is a certain type of file.  I can check that when I get home.  I have many files in ogg and mp3 format primarily.  It does appear to happen to some files and not others.  And it is pretty consistent with the files it crashes on.  I know these files do play in MC normally, just not through Tivo.  I also transcode throught the library server and I never have crashes with the same files.

What else can I get you?

Thanks

See if you can find one file that always fails. Then e-mail me that file (gateley  at jriver.com)

John,
It happens with many many files.  I cannot imagine I am the only one with this issue.....
I was really busy last night.  I should be able to get you the file tonight.

Thanks

Ok, I just tried to play some music and it crashed with an error #3-0-65535 when I selected a particular folder.  Appears to do this every time.
The folder in question is named "Banco De Gaia" and the songs are all in OGG format.  All songs play normally in MC.
I bet this has something to do with OGG conversion stuff.  Though I am not sure.  Do OGG files play normally on the test box you have?
I will continue research tonight and let you know.

THanks

Ogg files are working fine here. It'd be best if you can send me a file that always fails.

Double check you have conversion to MP3 turned on.

In the TiVo plugin, click on options, and the box should say  "Always Convert" or "Convert if necessary".

It's working fine here, but if I turn conversion off, I get results similar to yours.

Oh my, I remember when you guys changed the conversion settings and when they were all reset.  I guess I never set the Tivo MP3 conversion back on after that.  Thanks for your help John.....
I guess it does not do it automatically in case Tivo gains the ability to read other formats?

Thanks again!
