Media Center 11.0.277 Release Candidate
« on: May 25, 2005, 05:30:43 pm »

We're just about ready to release Media Center 11.0.  We appreciate your bug reports.  PRICES are here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311

PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE WITHOUT READING THE FOLLOWING:
Post only bugs you are certain about here.  Post questions or anything else in a new thread with a subject like "MC11: CD ripping problem"   If you can't find your post here, please look in the main index.   All feature requests should be postponed until MC11.0 is released.  Media Center 11 is available here:  ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110277.exe   (End of required reading)

11.0.277 (5/25/05)

1. Changed: When removing tracks from Playing Now, the list could get redrawn twice in some cases. (slower than necessary and could look less ideal)
2. Fixed: Rip status column could be overly slow on some systems.
3. Fixed: Old installation instructions on reboot were not getting cleared after they were run (and failed) given the impression that all subsequent installs were failing to install components.
4. Optimized: Speed of UPnP Server increased.
5. Fixed: While playing an audio CD, MC could show an error about failing to create the CD Manager.

11.0.276 (5/24/05)

1. Fixed: When starting Media Center while a running Media Center was in the process of shutting down would not always get a new Media Center started.
2. Changed: Media Center was using DirectX instead of its own audio engine for some compressed WAV formats even though the MC engine could suppport them.
3. NEW: Added support for multi-channel (5.1, 7.1, etc.) WAV and WMA files.
4. Fixed: Playlist views and library browser would not properly update their thumbnails after changing images for a file until leaving and returning to the view.
5. Changed: When making changes to images (set from clipboard, add from file, etc.) MC will block until the tags can be saved. (otherwise background tagging thread and list don't stay in step as expected)
6. Fixed: When dragging-n-dropping files from an explorer window to MC, focus would (occasionally) incorrectly return to the explorer window when the drop was complete.
7. Fixed: The TiVo Server would crash when choosing a second song to play while still playing a first.
8. Fixed: In some circumstances TV's Scan Channels window would appear to hang when Scan button was press (due to failure of the TV driver to recognize certain country code).
9. Fixed: Removable drive handheld devices could be overly slow when dealing with some file types. (QT, mp4, etc.)
10. Fixed: Changed caching so smartlists are not kept forever.
11. Fixed: If all encoders removed from MC, errors could occur when exploring options.
12. Fixed: Playing files from Portables within MC.
13. Fixed: In some cases, MC could deadlock with a "Saving tag changes..." dialog.
14. New: Added some fileinfo (File Properties->File Type Info) for RAW images.
15. Changed: Consolidated the Image File Information handling to JRImage.dll.
16. Changed: The Cover Art directory is no longer deleted unless the user specifies 'Remove library files' when uninstalling.
17. Fixed: Seeking to the very beginning of a song wouldn't always work as expected.

In short, my library was externally deleted, and while reimporting my tracks, MC seemed to halt at "File:  1693 of 1695."

It turns out that MC threw up a "Real Player Warning" (i.e., that it needed to download it), but it was hidden behind MC's window so I had no way of knowing it was waiting for input from me.

"MC could fail to copy JROptionsHelper.dll when setup finalized after a reboot. "
3. Fixed: Old installation instructions on reboot were not getting cleared after they were run (and failed) given the impression that all subsequent installs were failing to install components.

Yes it's fixed.

Thanks

Not a biggie, but I'm certain about it. There's a typo in one of the dialogue boxes: "The Media Center 11 Install Wizard has detected a running copy of Media Center. Do you want the InstallWizard to close Media Center and continue setup?" Notice that first it's spelled Install Wizard, and then InstallWizard without the space?

When MC 11 has focus, changing the volume jumps in 5% increments. When MC doesn't have the focus, MC volume control (as well as for any other app) is smooth and responsive (1% steps).

Any plans to fix this?

Thanks,

Is this a bug:

Locations of different artists from the same Multiple Artist album are spread about your hrad drive in different folders. Even though they are tagged with the same album name, Artist/Album statistics shows the Multiple Artist album as an individual album for each artist on the comp.

It's fixable by putting everything in the same folder, but I have noticed MC will do the same thing if the root filenames have even only one that is labled different from the rest; if there is an underscore in one of the filenames that changes the album name and the rest are identical, you get the same result as described above.

For new users who may have a ton of files from various compilation albums in unique artist folders on their HD's...they could find this extremely frustrating. Any way to "wisen up" MC? Maybe make it "take orders" from the tags and not the root filename (for album sorting and listing at least)?

Probably not since it was difficult to get all the keyboards and remotes to behave at all.

With 3D visualizations inn full screen or regular view, when changing viz the name in the bottom bar always goes to "Picture Terrain". If I let the bar dissappear and then move the mouse to see it again, the correct name is displayed. But if I then change to another viz (no matter which one), it will again show "Picture Terrain".

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall.  You may also want to try removing MC 10 if you have it installed.

I second that.  I'd leave well enough alone.   ;)
