As it is now MC can transfer songs to the iPod Shuffle. Well that's fine but it can't write the database properly. There is a solution to this, however! Today when I received my long-awaited shuffle I found out about a small program called iPod shuffle Database Builder. It like 28kb and will write the dB. It just have to be run once MC is done uploading songs (which btw is quite slow on with USB1.1, I have learned). It just have to be placed in the root of the iPod

Maybe Steve could patch it into MC until a true MC plugin has been made...

This of course requires you to set up the iPod as a removable drive, AND add it as just a path. This can be done under Option > Handhelds.

Edit: Please remeber to take a backup of your iPod_control archive before doing this the first time. First time is done MC wrote the dB and screwed everything up...

I know. More of a ‘service announcement’ for those who have shuffle but would prefer MC’s smartlist capabilities etc. rather than iTunes.

I'd love to see proper shuffle support in MC11 too, I hate having to use iTunes instead of Media Center.

I tried the DB rebuilder wihtout much success.

First I set the ipod shuffle to apear as a pen drive in iTUNES.  Then I closed iTUNES and opened MC11 ver310 and the initialized the shuffle.  I did transfer files to the iPOD and copied the rebuild_db to the root of the iPOD and ran the python version.  The iPOD would still not play any files.  The green and amber lights would alternate flashing.

Any one have any thoughts or suggestions.  Maybe I did something incorrectly.  Any help would be much appreciated.
