Different numbers of files
« on: July 15, 2005, 11:54:37 am »

I have just over 2,600 music files (MPEG3) in my Music Folder, MC11 only detects just over 2,400 and only around 1,500 appear on the iPod.

Is there any way I can get this all in sync again ?

TIA

Are you using the latest version?

Try finding one of the files you think isn't imported and then searching for it in MC.  It may be there.

What extension?  MP3?

Try checking the options under advanced in the Import.

I am using the latest version, although its the trial version, it doesnt detect any updates.

Using the Windows Search facility and specifying MP3 extension, it reports over 2,600 files on the top level folder (the same one used in the Library import search).

I unchecked the "detect files already deleted" and it seems to have picked up the missing 200 odd files ! Strange as I have just trying to load up the Library and have not deleted any as far as I know.

I now have the Music Folder and the Media Library in sync, how about the iPod ? In fact every time I dock the iPod it seems to load up a few more files, about 50-100 at a time.

Update.

I started to analyse the difference files between the Library and the iPod and just on the offchance that strange characters were causing the problem I decided to rename a few.

One song had "Mary J. Blige" as the artist, I removed the period.

I resync'ed and lo and behold it has detected _all_ the missing 1,100 odd files and is now uploaded onto the iPod.

There you go.

Sorry to bump this again but I am still having problems, the upload is now about 400 files short of my total Library and my previous solution does not work.

How can I force the iPod to be updated correctly ?
