« on: July 18, 2005, 02:21:55 pm »

Sooner or later, you have to say the job is done and move on to the next.  We'll still continue to improve Media Center, but the changes will probably show up in an 11.1 version.

Here's the press release:

Congrats, but what's the big idea in creating this Microsoft vs JRiver comparison? Can't help it, to me it sounds like a small poodle barking at grizzly bear...

Congratulations to all jrivers!  Your hard work and perfectionism shows!

JimH, as a reward to all your staffers, I say you buy them all subscriptions to Napster or Yahoo music, where they can use MC and post endless comments about how great it is.  The same goes for other AV forums.  You guys have been working really hard on this great software, now it's time to start banging the gongs and blaring the trumpets.  MC11 + Napster makes it  easy to start your own personal radio station.

Oh, and about that Feature Request forum . . .

A great big congrats to the entire JRiver team, and an even greater thank you.  Your dedication to excellence, your obvious passion for the product, your utterly amazing responsiveness to customer feedback (and willingness to try new ways of doing things) all are what makes MC the best product in it's class (and in a few other classes as well).

Here's looking forward to MC and J River's future!   :) :D

::)I would like to congratulate JRiver, Jim H. and all who work on Media Center.

The model of taking direct feedback from the great customer base is one that unfortunately is being lost on most companies due to oligopolies, monopolies creating no competition.

As a software developer for many years, that is the model I learned on, but after a lot of years. I realized that the "technical" part was the easy part, it was creating software that was going to help customers and make life easier for customers. It took some peeling off my own arrogance and pride to get to that point.
Obviously JRiver understands this and has creates Media Center as a joint effort with their customers.

This has to be the most pleasant and helpful forum of any tech forum I have ever been in.

It is a joy to see the kind of support, honest and respect that JRiver shows its customers and via versa.

I also want to thank to customers who took the time to give JRiver great feedback and creating a "partnership".  Your hard work on testing and giving feedback, has certainly benefited me as a Media Center customer and a long time user with Jukebox many versions ago.

Thanks to all,

Jon Temple

Great job JRiver team! This has been my favorite software app since v.7 and this new release is the best of the best.  It's not without foundation that your customer base is passionate about Media Center.  Congratualtions!!!

This is a perfect example of how a program should evolve in the constantly changing IT world.  The differences between vs. 10 and 11 are noticable and positive.Others should heed your example.

As a testy and sometimes mercurial user, let me thank you on behalf of those of us  who person and moan during the process, but appreciate your efforts more than we would ever admit.  Thanks again!

By the way has anybody had stop errors regarding MC11 and access to certain files or in general.   When it hppens it happens over and over until you reboot.  I finally figured out the cause but am trying to find a workaround.  Culprit is Adobe Reader version 7.  their updates do not solve  the problem, and I have not associated MC with their extensions. Would love to not even use that program if I had an alternative to get to all those PDF user manuals, etc.out there.

Congrats again on a product you can be proud of , now on to MC 12, but you guys deserve a day or two off first!!

Congrats to the whole J River team for improving on an already excellent product and working so diligently with all the dedicated users on this forum.  ;D

And special thanks to John Gateley for all the hard work on the UPnP server which, for me at least, is the single most significant addition to the MC program!  8) ;D

Looking forward  to even more great additions and improvements in the very near future....

Yup, congrats guys! I think that, like most demanding users who've tried MC, I've been addicted to this software since the first day I tried it. As always, the new features are excellent!

Great job to the entire JR team!

It still says "Beta 2" in the upper right corner of mine.
Hope that's not a problem  :)

Never mind.  It's the skin.  After I posted, I got to actually thinking....

From one of those silent fans who has more time to use the product than to provide product development feedback :-X I'd like to thank all those at JRiver who worked on it, and all of you who provided invaluable feedback to JRiver.

I've been a user since MJ7 and an avid supporter of the product to anyone who will listen, many of whom had the good taste and good sense to fork over the few bucks to license this superior product.

MJ & MC have saved me countless hours organizing and reorganizing my music collection, and I have seen no other product that compares.

Keep up the good work.

I received your announcement email just as I've received all the announcement emails since I originally bought MJ 7.0 back in 2001. It's good to hear you are continuing to improve your product. Unfortunately, I have yet to download and try out any release past MJ 8.0 since for some reason MJ 7.0 license owners have never been offered upgrade prices, only the ability to use MJ 8.0. I still use the program and will continue to do so. I will also continue hoping that eventually someone at JRiver will remember that there were people who bought and appreciated their products before MJ 8.0.

I tried to download version 11 from your main screen and it gave me ten.  Lucky I am an old hand and know where to go.

I have refered a lot of people to MC.  Is there a referal program?

Cheers

Thanks for catching the link problem - you did the "click here if the download doesn't start automatically", right? The other links were correct, that was the only one I found still pointing to 10.

Re: Anoying Sounds during playback
« Reply #36 on: August 08, 2005, 05:00:34 pm »

Hi,

Only recently discovered MC11 and am now evaluating the program...
It's the mediaplayer/jukebox I've been looking for a longtime.
Only 1 thing anoys me and I can't find where or how to solve it:
I use MC11.0.309 for playback mp3s (random).
Each time MC switches tracks (set gapless) a sound is played.

It's the sound as is set in start\settings\control panel\sounds & audio devices\sounds (in WinXP)
Here I've set a sound for the event 'Start Navigation' in Windows Explorer.
It's this sound which is played each time MC11 switches tracks.

Is there a way to disable this sound (other than disabling the sounds in Windows Explorer)?

Hi wim.  Welcome to Interact.  In Control Panel/Sounds, try turning off the sound for "new file" or "open file" or similar.

By the way, you can start a new topic any time.  I'll split these two posts to a new thread later.
