Is this a cover art bug? It's bugging me :>)
« on: August 19, 2005, 09:37:39 pm »

I started by making playlist of all my classical albums, and adding cover art. All went well.  As would be expected, many of the covers I had to search out myself on different websites. I simply right clicked on the cover art in the webpage, and did a copy. Then I told MC to copy the image from the clipboard.  No problems. Then I decided to add a few more playlist for other styles of music, such as classic rock, soundtracks, and so on.

After making the playlist, I decided to add cover art to the songs. All went fine until about the 7th or 8th song in the first playlist, then things started getting weird. When I would tell MC to use the cover art from the clipboard, it would do so, but I noticed that several other songs in the playlist all at once had their coverart changed also. That gave me 3 unrelated songs with the same cover art.

So, I would remove the cover art from the other songs, go back and find it's correct cover art, and then tell MC to paste from clipboard. It did, but now the song that screwed things up in the first place, now has the other songs cover art. In other words, when ever I paste in cover art for a song, 1 or 2 others in the list change to it also. Am I doing something wrong? The only difference I know of, is with the classical albums, each album has it's own playlist, and I gave all songs in each album the same cover art, instead of each song getting it's own, as I am doing in the more general song lists where the tunes are unrelated. Weirder yet, is that it doesn't always screw up. I might have 3 or 4 songs out of a playlist of 30 that does this.

Hope I explained this well enough to be understood. Is this a bug in MC?

Here's how i do it.

Options->File Location->Track & Image Location->Store Images in tags also (uncheck)

Since i belong to the school of thought that does not like to unessesarily increase the file size for each track in the library when a simple association will do.

Find cover-art on the web using a browser, save it to the album folder. Then associate with the tracks. Select all album tracks in MC->(Right Click)->Image->Add to file.

Done.

It's a bit tedious compared to other automated methods, but has never failed me yet.

Normally, you should add cover art before you make a playlist.  That's the only thing I see you're doing differently.

The folder.jpg thing that XP does might be part of it.  If the folder.jpg exists, it gets used as cover art in some cases.  Try a search here for more info.  Also check your settings.

Two similar threads on cover art.  Please use this one:
