Dlink DSM 320 not working
« on: March 11, 2006, 03:02:06 pm »

Hi,

I have a DSM 320 and after updating to the most current iteration of Media Center 11.1....  it didn't work.  I've tried tweaking the options section of upnp but the dsm 320 just won't find the server.  The d link server works fine however.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Did you set it in the options for the UPnP server?

Yes...  I've set the dsm 320 in the upnp options section.  It doesn't work.

I've also tried using the settings for all the other players unsuccessfully as well as using the advanced menu and trying various combination of settings.  Before upgrading my version of MC 11, I had to use a custom configuration to get the player to work as the preset for dsm 320 didn't.  However, with the upgrade, nothing seems to get it to work.

Again, please note that the player does work with the server software supplied with the player.  I would prefer to use MC as the menu display and options are superior.

Thank you for your help and I look forward to any suggestions you may have.

Sorry for the delay...

Try the next version of MC (11.1.154 or higher), I'm using that and it's working fine. I made a change that may have been the fix.

I am using 11.1.172  and DSM 320 v.eu1.07 but experience a terrible lag when trying to watch videos or recorded TVshows - that do play perfectly with Nero MediaHome - but also lag under D-link MediaServer.

Seems to me - that the issue could/might be someting to do with codecs used by the various MediaServers.  Any tips or plug-ins I could use to solve this?   ?

I am trying out jr MediaCenter - as I don't quite like the unstability of Nero MediaHome (crashes when I put many - 8000 files in the Shared Directories) or D-link MedieServers bad viewing of videos.

Another thing - is that D-link have discontinued updating drivers and software for DSM-320 in Europe -    :'(  anyway - so I need to find a better solution - as I bought my DSM-320 only a month ago.

It's possible that Nero is converting to a lower bitrate.  MC doesn't currently convert video.

What is the network connection?  If it's wireless, try a wired connection just to test.

I tried a wired connection, but it was just as bad.  :'(  So for now I am using 3 different programmes - and that's a hassle... for now. But hopefully the new version can help some of my problems.  Will be testing it later today.

Thanks anyway  ;)
