I guess the main server is congested. There has been over 600,000 downloads already after the first of October. That's why they are now offering the Bittorrent P2P links in the first place.

Is "Pirkinning" a sly complement to Pirk or Pirx (in Tales of Pirx the Pilot, by Stanislaw Lem)? Or is it a finnish word?

The word has no meaning in Finnish. I quess it is just a play on words and an inside joke.

The main character is Captain (later Emperor) James B. Pirk (almost like Kirk) and one of the Babylon 5 TV movies is "Babylon 5: In the Beginning". Probably those guys have read Lem's Pirx the Pilot books too.
