MC 11.0.316 Analyzing Files takes up all of the cpu?
« on: November 01, 2005, 06:56:49 pm »

Has anyone noticed this???

When analyzing files, the whole system is getting very slow.
Analysis takes up 90-100% of processor time and everything else
starts crawling...

Is that normal? I don't think so....

By the way, I'm running MC on windows xp (32bit) on an amd 64, and
I've noticed this behaviour since I changed from intel 32bit to amd 64bit
processor...

Maybe the process is granted too high priority or something

I don't know but it is very anoying cause I can't do anything else while analyzing tracks...

Can someone look into this and maybe fix it???

Thanx in advance

ahh yeh that's fairly normal.  the reason you've experienced a change when moving from the intel to the amd is that the intels have hyperthreading, which allows you to basically do two things at once.  im no intel expert at all, but i think it's one of the benefits of a really long pipeline.

i have an amd processor and it also takes up to 100% cpu usage.  doesn't slow my computer too much (slows mc down) because it is a fairly low priority.  you can change the priority a thread runs at in your processes tab in the windows task manager (ctrl-alt-del), but i dont know how this will effect your mc, prolly just make mc analyze a little slower.

good luck
