Tour of JRiver
« on: December 01, 2005, 03:19:29 pm »

Here's a movie, starting at the front door:

http://www.jriver.com/~jriver/misc/MOV00021.MPG  (100MB)

and another going down the development corridor:

http://www.jriver.com/~jriver/misc/MOV00019.MPG  (65MB)

There is an excellent view of the back of Bob's head.

Though we have broadband here at work, the playback is so-o-o-o choppy in Windows Media Player as to be unwatchable. Shame, because I'm bored and would like to watch it. Might there be a buffer adjustment I can enact in WMP?

I answered my own question, setting buffering to 60 seconds and video acceleration to 1/2. This is WMP 9 with no chance of upgrading because the CAISO PC gestapo has our boxes locked down pretty tight. Sigh...

Hm.  Worked fine for me in WMP10....

EDIT:  Oh, I did download them before playing.  Didn't think of this before...

The videos need about 10 mbps of bandwidth (~ 1.25 MB/s). It is best to download them first.

They could be compressed quite a bit more. Windows Media Video format would be playable without any third party codecs.

The videos are nice indeed. You could shot more and edit a short movie of them. It would make a nice casual addition to the company presentations. In my opinion it is always a good idea to proudly present the people who are behind the products.

The pictures were taken with a new Sony Cybershot N-1 camera.  Very small, big LCD screen.

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=DSCN1&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=dcc_DIDigitalCameras_Cyber-shotDigitalCameras

The camera has three resolutions:

640 Fine  (640x480?)

640 Normal  (640x240?)

160  (160x120?)

The files I put on the web site were 640 Fine.  They look very good when you play them on a standard TV.

It's great to see the folks behind the code! Also amazing to see how big JRiver actually is. Also fun to see who has a flat screen and who doesn't... ;)
