Location of album art
« on: December 04, 2005, 03:21:27 pm »

Using explorer I copied my entire MP3 library to another drive and created another library there but appear to have lost my album art.  How can I find it?

Thanks!

Which settings?  Where should I look?

I understand these are dumb questions, the problem remains that I don't know how to solve my problem.

"Tools", "options", "File Location"

King means, where or how did you originally save the cover art when you added music and art to your library.

Does the new drive have the same drive letter as the old one?

Did you use the option to find cover art from the internet when you ripped the CDs? Did you manually download or scan the cover art and saved it where?

Did you use the option to store the cover art in the default folder?(look in: Drive C>Program Files>J River>Media Center 11>Data>Cover Art)

Did you use the option to store the cover art in the mp3 file tag? If so, then you might just have to re-import all your mp3s.

Please add your system info from the help menu in MC.

Problem was that one Cover Art directory was in the Data directory but the other was one level up. :)

Now I've found the art do I need to highlight all the tracks (about 20000 of them) and do a "Quick Find in File Cover Art Directory" or is there an easier way?

THANKS!!!

As long as the files are now located in the folder referenced in the settings under "Tools", "options", "File Location",  then highlighting all files and doing a "quick find in folder" will fix you up.

...and finally (hopefully) once I've done this is there a way to list all the files that I never had cover art for so I can get it from the Internet?

Thanks!

A quick and dirty way is to display the image field by editing your view scheme.  Then sort on that field.  All the blank ones will be together.

You can also use this in a smartlist:
mt=audio [Image File]=[]

If you select all tracks, MC's default for "Get from Internet" is to only get images for tracks that have missing images.

Careful with this.  i used this the other day, and didn't realize that i had only a couple of songs on a few albums that did NOT have cover art, but the rest of the songs DID have cover art.  The result was that MC found cover art for the missing songs, and replaced the cover art i DID have with what it found, which was of a lower quality than what most of the songs had.

I realize that I should not have had a few songs on an album without cover art, and others with, but I did, and now I need to go find the higher quality cover art again.

Just an FYI.

Maybe I should have told it to get from file first, but didn't think of it.  Oh well.

This was great, I did two passes, one with the tougher matching criteria and then one on the remaining blanks with the looser matching criteria. :)
