I have MC 10.0.173 on both my home and office computers. Most times when I rip a CD on my home computer  I get the ff. error message

" Failed to update the following files:

          c:\XXXXXXX\XXXX\.....................

This happens when the files are in use, missing, read-only or corrupt."

Ripping then stops until I click OK. Can Anybody help me to solve this problem please. It doesn't however happen to me on my office computer.

What are the real filenames and paths, which MC tries to use when the error happens? Do you have enough temporally file space?

Also, post your System Info from the Help menu.

The file names are my music filenames from my music Library. For example
C:\mymusic\jazz\jonathan butler\story of life.mp3.

All of a sudden I'm getting this same error.  Was glad to find it in the forum, but unfortunately no solution.  I hit OK after getting the error and the file is fine, it's just really annoying that I can't rip a cd without sitting in fornt of the computer and hitting OK after just about every track.

Any ideas?  I was ripping CD's fine like a week ago.  The only change to my computer was that I installed Windows Media Connect.  Can't see how that would cause this problem though.

It might be worth trying to uninstall WM Connect.

OK...I wouldn't have thought it, but after uninstalling Windows Media Connect I did not have the problem.

Problem is...I need to use Windows Media Connect.  I guess that means I'll just have to live with this.
