"Delete Tracks from Handheld if not in Sync List"

Only makes sense if the files are, in fact, under the data types managed by MC, in the nominated folders like Music, Video and so on.

But not if there are OTHER folders on the device that have nothing to do with MC whatsoever. Please leave those alone!   

I just lost a lot of documents from my PDA's CF card with this very aggressive little feature.
Luckily I'd made backups.

Did you allow MC to autodetect your device or did you manually  browse to it? If you browsed to it manually, you can designate what directory you want to treat as the 'device' and thereby safeguard other directories that have data you want MC not to view.

In addition, I think MC should respect the designated folders in the handheld paths, and not visit any other folders, regardless of data type.

Autodetect. I'm not sure how to manually browse to a PocketPC's CF Card, it doesn't show up under MC explorer, only under W2k explorer.

I still think that MC should respect the folders specified in the device's "Files and Paths" options. After all, it's been spelled out in black and white. The user should expect that those are the folders MC manages. Not others. If the path is blank or "\", THEN it's ok to assume this means the ROOT of the drive, but I don't agree this can be assumed in any other case.

You can configure a new device to point at only a certain folder by using Options > Handheld > Device Management > Add Device...

How can this be done with a PocketPC's data card?
It doesn't have a drive letter or any way of browsing to it via MC explorer.
In my desktop's w2k explorer there's a "Pocket PC" icon under MyComputer which is browsable. Maybe this is just an issue with Windows Mobile 2003 and w2k.
It would be good if MC had a way of managing the folders.
