Media Center 11.1.101 Release Candidate
« on: January 17, 2006, 05:08:43 pm »

This is a late pre-release version of MC 11.1.  Your MC11.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

PRICES for MC11.0 and 11.1 are here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311

This latest build of MC11.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111101.exe

11.1.101 (01/17/06)

1. Fixed: The handheld option "Get data from handheld on connect" was not saving properly.
2. Changed: The status column is always shown in a handheld view. (instead of just when there are queued files)
3. Fixed: After some actions (like erasing files) the handheld view panes would not update to match the list.
4. Fixed: The sync on connect / startup option was not working as expected.
5. Fixed: When connecting a handheld device, the handheld's Action Window will autmatically be shown.
6. Changed: When disconnecting a handheld, the associated action window will automatically close.
7. Fixed: Podcast web pages sometimes opened outside the MC window.
8. Fixed: iPods with podcasts uploaded from iTunes could cause a crash.
9. Changed: When Media Center fails to load a cached thumbnail, it resets itself so it rebuilds the thumbnail.
10. Fixed: Restoring a library wouldn't reset the thumbnails from the previous library, causing some thumbs to not appear.
11. Fixed: Changing a selection in the panes would not reset the scroll position of the bottom list when showing a new set of files.
12. Fixed: Playlists were not transferring to portable devices correctly.

11.1.100 (01/16/06)

1. NEW: Photos uploaded to an iPod now support NTSC output to a TV.
2. Fixed: Some older firmware iPod photos wouldn't properly display a photo slideshow.
3. Changed: Files on a device show "Delete On Sync" in the status column when they're flagged for removal.
4. Changed: Play counts and ratings are now synchronized back from a device in a worker thread when the device is connected. (instead of blocking the program)
5. Fixed: Delete playlist confirmation from the iPod plugin only showed an 'OK' button.
6. Changed: Some tweaking of handheld menus.
7. NEW: Added "Options" button next to "Sync Now" button for handheld views.

New Features in MC 11.1
Podcasting support
Much improved handheld support for iPod, PlayforSure devices, and many others
Configurable locations for all media types on handhelds
iPod Shuffle and Nano support
Photos and album art on iPods that support it
Automatic backup of library
Directshow support for AAC files
Much faster handling of thumbnail images (requires one-time rebuild of thumbnails)
Integrated library and library browser system

Re: Fullscreen zone change problem
« Reply #2 on: January 17, 2006, 08:15:58 pm »

If I change zones (Ctrl+T or directly with Windows messages) when in FullScreen mode, the visualization still shows for the original zone.  After changing zones I can't seem to exit the FullScreen mode with any keypresses (Esc, Ctrl+1, etc.  don't work).

The column is there to stay!! The sync (based on playlists) is in some cases buggy.
Example:
I have two playlistst (1 audio and 1 image) synced.
Unchecking the image-playlist does not put them on 'delete on sync'.
The actual sync does not delete them.
I add an audio playlist. Audio files are synced, and the images stay on the iPod.
Now I add an Image playlist.
Yes! the earlier removed playlist is now 'delete on sync' and the added one is 'in queue'.
If I add a second image playlist again it works fine.
Now I have 2 image playlists and 1 audio playlist.
Unchecking the audio playlist does not do anything.
Unchecking a image playlist, only removes the images. Not the syill unchecked audio playlist.
If I add an audio playlist this will be added and the other one will be removed.

Extra info:
my audio and image playlists are in seperate playlist groups.
Looking at what i wrote it ahs something to do with the difference between audio and images (because of the playlist grouping??).
It also has someting to do with the 0, 1 or more playlists checked.

Hope this helps.

The sync (based on playlists) is in some cases buggy.

Example:
I have two playlistst (1 audio and 1 image) synced.
Unchecking the image-playlist does not put them on 'delete on sync'.

The "delete on sync" option will only touch media types contained in the sync.  So, if you're not syncing images (or documents, etc.) MC will not touch these media types.  It's an important safe-guard.

You'll have to delete files by hand if you plan to add / remove media types from a sync.

A few minor things that have been bugging me:

1) The import dialog that says how many files were imported/updated/failed to import no longer has a link to display the log - Is this intentional?  Otherwise I have no idea what it failed to import.

2) I have a audio viewscheme that is configured to display all complete albums (excluding a few genres), sorted by Album Artist (auto), then album, then disk, then track.  The <Multiple Artists> disks are listed at the top - The problem I see is I will occasionally get one track listed by itself.  The first example is the album "45's on CD Volume 6" - This shows up (either in detail or album thumbnail view) as only one of the tracks, with the Artist displayed as "Vincent and the Tarriers".  Now, if I look in the directory where this file is, the whole album is there, the complete album field is 1 (Otherwise the viewscheme wouldn't show it), and the Album artist(auto) shows up as  <Multiple Artists> (Otherwise it wouldn't be sorted up at the top of the list with the other <Multiple Artists> albums).  Any ideas?

3) Complete album logic: Is there any chance you could account for the Disk Number field, so we don't have to rename things like "Greatest Hits" to "Greatest Hits - Disk 1" and "Greatest Hits - Disk 2" in order for this calculated field to be true.  View schemes that depend on complete albums would be aided by this - Also, when you are looking at an album thumbnail view, a 5 disk box set shows up as 5 images in a row, hogging up valuable screen real estate that would not be needed if it could be listed as 1 complete set.

Thanks!

? There will always be at least 1 playlist of each medio type, untill I decide to manually delete the files.
What about the playlist?
Why is that a safeguard?

If this is by design ... ok?  If you ask me if I understand ... no?

I will do some further analysis of the behavior. Maybe some dummy playlists can help.

I'm having problems burning CD's with the recent builds.

If I drag files onto the Burn CD Dialog then burn, all is OK but if I drag files onto the Burn CD Dialog then select Show Files, the file list is very sluggish and burning invariably fails partway through the disc.

Anyone else seen this?

Yes, yes, yes! This is exactly what is happening to me. When I select "Show list" each line is drawn individually and very slowly. And the burn always fails in the middle of the task. I had not associated it with the "Show List" as that is what I always do.

See thread here:http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=31374.0

P.S. This has been happening for awhile now, not just with the last build. Last night I uninstalled an earlier version, rebooted, installed newest version and had the same problem.

MC does not warn when a playlist export replaces an older identically named playlist file on the HD. It warns only if the "Save As" window is opened first.

Ok problem with the rio Karma (it worked in previous builds).
I can see it in the harware profiles, the native software sees it fine, but MC cannot see it. I have tried unpluging/plugging, rebooting, etc.

It used to work before.

AW>build playlist>edit existing..

The duration column is not right, showing, for example, 0:06 for a 6 minute track.

Small bug:

The Debug Logging panel ("Help-Configure Debug Logging...") has an incomplete sentence:

"NOTE: Some changes will not take effect until the program is"

I'm guessing the word "restarted" is missing... :-)
