if you dbl click on it and nothing happens

Try:

Make Internet Explorer As Your Default Web Browsers

Turn Off All Pop Up Blockers, and adware type programs.

Re-Install MJ8

And Then Try Dbl Clicking On The License file

if you use the mjr file you downloaded it does not use up restores.

if you try from the restore page it will every time.

Kingsparta, 1st of all thanks for your help...
the mjr file is downloaded on my desktop and when i clicked on it winxp didn't know how to open it....and asked me which program i would like to use to open it. of course i was clueless to this and inadvertently opened it as a web-browser or something. now, nothing happens when i click on the icon.

since i was confused i've been restoring it from the restore page so that is why i only got a few tries left.

If MJ8 is installed properly it should know what to do with the file.

for MC11

if you look under file types in windows explorer for the Extender "MJR" you will see this if you click on the advanced button and edit

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe" /Register "%L"

MJ8 is a bit different beings it calls another program to register (I Don't rememeber what the parms are for MJ8)

if this "MJR" is missing from what windows knows to ID a extender then this is your problem.

what hapens is some adware and other programs like that may block the edit of the registery and other windows files. this is to keep trojons etc... from changing your system. sometimes that also creates problems when installing programs you wish to install.

i talked to my LAN admin about this and he brought to my attention that there is a difference between "INSTALL" and "RESTORE"!

Do i have to INSTALL v8 and then to get back and RESTORE to full funjctionality?

If your doing this on a company network you may have other issues with access rights and company firewall issues.

maybe

don't you have MJ8 installed?

if not install it.

if it is installed you may need to re-install it.

A restore is not the program (mjr file), you need to install the program first

then you need to use the restore page or the license file to activate mj8 so it knows you have a license to run the program in licensed mode.

I have no more info for you since i do not use MJ8 anymore.
