Delete Files from Harddisk with MJB 8.0
« on: September 24, 2002, 08:21:29 am »

Hi Fans !

I have the following Problem. If i wish to delete a file in the List ( for example search with strg+F ) then i cant delete the file from the harddisk when i have play some song before, than i can delete only from the list showing in MJB.

Only when i click strg+f and find the titles, and click at first delete, than i can delete the file from the harddisk.  Have everybody a tip to delete files simply from the harddisk with MJB.....?

Many Greetings from Hamburg - Germany...

You need to be in the Media Library folder to delete off of hard disk. Deleting anywhere else just removes it from that playlist (ie Playing Now and any under Playlists folder). In Media Library select the file you want to delete & hit the Delete key. You will see a check box option to delete file from hard disk. If you don't check this box it only removes it from DB (as you found out). Reimport files then delete again the correct way.

Hello !

Thank your for your answer..But i have the same problem in the media library folder. When i have played one Song, then i cannot delete it from the harddisk. Only when i click at first on delete than it is possible.

By the way...i want to play simulary songs at first and then i will delete them if they are the same..

Thats a problem.

Maybe in the settings are the solutions, but where?

many greetings

Your saying that after you play a song and it has stopped, that you can't delete it? When you delete it, what happens? I take it that it is removing song from DB, but not from HD. What build of MJ are you using?

I use MJB 8.0.372

All the Mp3 Files in the list cannot delete from Harddisk if i have one Song played before. Only from the Database.

Is that  a intend or a bug or maybe a improvement in the next version?

Smegmi,

I can't make heads or tails out of what you mean by "All the Mp3 Files in the list cannot delete from Harddisk if i have one Song played before."

You do have full rights (read, write, delete, etc.) to the directory your storing your files in, right?

I don't know if this will help or not but if you have just played the song and you try to update data or delete, MJ thinks the file is in use and will not update or delete when you get done with the song click another one and then try to delete the last one
