Pocket PC
« on: September 24, 2002, 04:49:16 am »

I have a wireless network in my house and I am using Media Jukebox server on my main PC and have a laptop connected to my amp and speakers. This works brilliantly but the laptop takes up a bit much room. Is there anyway I can use my Pocket PC (Compaq ipaq 3630) as the client end of Media Jukebox?

Thanks in advance ;)

If you install the Web Remote interface plug-in (available on our plug-ins page) on your main PC, you can access its library and play music, but it will play on the main PC.  Long audio cable?

web remote doesn't fill this need, Jim. The need is to play music locally, connected to Media Server.

It seems that instead of to develop a pocketPC (and PalmOS) client, it would be better to develop an "http media server" in order to can use any browser on any platform.

Wireless audio with pda can be a new market for MJ !

Take a look at the slimmp3 device at slimdevices.com.  We may support it from an MJ library.

You would need an Ethernet connection at your amp.

No, that doesn't fill my need.

I would like:

-media server running on my desktop

-myself listening music with headphones connected on a wireless pda with a client which let me to browse and play music from media server

Microsoft do an embeded Windows media player for web pages, something like this to interface to MJ Server would be cool.

See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/create/embedppc.asp
