G5 ipod and XP's disk manager

I thought my PC had hung "contacting the logical disk manager service" this morning, but it fired up, ju-ust before I nuked it, and then realised it had hung querying the ipod, which I'd forgotten was connected.

Is the 110mb of unallocated space where the ipod's operating system lives?
