Encoding while streaming using the library server
« on: February 08, 2006, 02:49:43 pm »

Question...

I am using 11.1 and streaming using the library server. Works great as always. However, I have a question. When poking around, I found that you could set various bitrates for the stream. What I wanted to know, does this encoding happen at the server level or is it resampled on the client's end?

Thanks!

The re-encoding happens on the server, so that you can tailer the bitrate to make the best use of available bandwidth.

Thanks. I am glad thats the case. I guess it wouldnt make a lick of sense to have it encode on the client end. Guess it was a dumb question. Thanks for the info!
