It is not predictable where track will be droped, when I change playng order.
Please make this operation more convenient like WinAmp or ReGet.

Not for me. I don't see any line when I move songs around in playing now or in playlists. It's always been like this for me with 11.1 and I thought it was a UI bug that was going to be fixed eventually. In the meantime I got used to guess where the song would drop in the list, but it's true that it's still very annoying.

Are there just a few of us who can't see that big line?

Try switching skins and turning off skin effects.

Just tried this, and I don't get a line where the drops going to happen,

dragging and dropping from somewhere else in the list.
The line is the width of the track name column with a Square
to the left of it the size of the audio icon.
If I'm dropping from say Explorer I get nothing.

Edit:
If I press Escape during the drag drop, for a brief few milliseconds, I do see
the line, then it disappears.  I've tried a few different skins but no difference.

Tried it on an almost identical machine and the line shows!

In case it isn't obvious, ordered drag-n-drop (where you'll see a line) is only possible in some lists like Playing Now and a playlist.  Also, there must be no search.  I'm not sure if split views make a difference.

The problematic machine is running NVidia, the other ATI.
I'm gonna try and do some more tests later.  I've got a feeling however
it's something else.

Currently I'm running Neural Network tests for an Artificial Inteligence report making my machine totally unusable!

I think he just means if you swap to an nVidia card in the machine that previously exhibited the problem, and it goes away, then you can be reasonably sure that it does have to do with the ATI drivers or card.

I, for one, have a bunch of machines with ATI video cards at my disposal at home.  I'll check it out tonight.  I don't have a current nVidia card to test with though (my last non-mac one was a TNT2).

I guess I'll try to update the drivers as soon as possible then. I hope it will work then because if it doesn't I can only regret that I chose to buy from ATI rather than a major video card maker

I doubt it's the video card -- they're generally very consistent in the 2d world.

Try disabling 3rd party cursor, mouse, or drawing programs. 

Try toggling some of the drawing effects in Control Panel > System.

Try using the sequence number to drag a selection.
I always get the 'location' line that way.
On occasion if I take the selection anywhere else, I do not get the location line.

Interesting work-around for the playing now list. What do you do to get the line to show in your playlists though? Do you add a sequence number column to all your playlists?

for me, no, but I do see each potential drop target highlight as the mouse moves over them.

Nice clear drop target line in playlists/playing now views using nvidea gforce fx5900 and Opus MC (blue) skin. (shows fine using aruba too)
I'm using a CRT monitor.
Is anyone not seeing the drop target line also using a CRT screen?

I'm using a Sony Trinitron CRT.
Just tried GHammers suggestion but it still does not make the line visible.

I've also tried a variation of resoloutions, hardware acceleration,
colours, etc...

I think I'll keep playing as time allows.

I'll try and swap the cards over at some point.
I have no 3rd party screen drawing stuff on this machine at the moment,
although it has had everything under the sun on it in the past month.
I can't risk taking the machine down at the moment however so it may take a
while to narrow any differences down.
