The podcasts I've subscribed to don't seem to be downloading anymore. I can click and download each episode manually, but MC is ignoring the download newest option.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Right click on "podcasts" in the tree and check the download status.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

When I right click on podcasts in the tree, I see Disable Auto Downloads, Add New Feed, Add Default Feeds, and a Navigation menu. The odd thing is I can see that new feeds are available, they just don't auto download.  I do know it was working two days ago (before I downloaded the new version).

BTW, thanks for getting the CNN podcasts working. I've been waiting for that one.

Do a search for the podcast.xml file and rename it.  Then right click on "podcasts" again and choose "default feeds".  You'll lose any you've added.

I renamed podcast.xml, but that hasn't helped. I next created a new library and loaded my podcasts and that didn't help either.

I'm starting to think I've messed up a setting somewhere. I usually set the podcasts I subscribe to download the newest episode and keep the newest episode (to keep old newscasts out of my smartlists). I've tried different combinations of those two settings (not all). So far, the only combination that causes auto download to start is download all episodes and keep all episodes. Podcast in options are set to the defaults.

I'm stumped. Any ideas?

edit: I forgot to mention I've upgraded to 11.1.129 without it helping.

I've managed to get my podcasts downloading again by setting each podcast to download all episodes and to keep 2 episodes. That's not how I prefer to set it up, but it will work until this is fixed.

Download newest episode, keep newest episode still doesn't work.

Here are the things I would check:

(1) Temporarily enable Download "all episodes".
(2) Temporarily enable Keep "all episodes".
(3) Make sure the button at the top of the page says "Disable Auto Download".
(4) In Options > Podcast, set the "Stop downloading when less that XX GB free" to a small number (like 1) and then make sure you have at least 1 GB of free space on the volume where Media Center will download the files.
(5) In Options > Podcast, set "Delete when all episodes exceed XXXX GB" to something like 1000 GB.

If one of the things above solves your problem, and things start working, please note here what the problem was.  I think we need some kind of status that is currently not shown, because lots of smart people keep getting stuck.  It would really help to understand where.

I will spend some time today trying to reproduce exactly what you are seeing, and then try on my own it make it a little clearer.

These seemed to make no differnece since my MC was already configured that way.

Yup.  We have an "off by one error" so you download one less episode than you ask.  As a temporary fix, set the number of episodes to download to 2.  Then you will get one episode.  And after tomorrow's build, you will get two.
