Problems with CD burning.
« on: February 24, 2006, 12:49:32 am »

I've always been happy with Media Center.  But since the last update I can't burn CD's (stops at track 6 and gives "command sequence error") and it now takes 2 minutes to put a single song on my ipod.  Those are the only 2 things I use mc for and it doesn't work.  What gives?

Could be lots of things.  Check the FAQ here and the thread on "Crashes..." there.

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

For the iPod, try Options/Handhelds/Redetect.

Uninstalled, downloaded mc and reinstalled.  I still get the same command sequence error.  Always happens on the 5th or 6th track.

Please enable logging of the CD events and then email the log to me. You probably want to zip up the log file first as it may be rather large.

1. Start MC
2. Get everything prepared to the point you're ready to press the burn button
(to save the disc from being destroyed, enable Options/Burn Settings/Test mode)
3. Go to Help/Configure debug logging...
4. Check "Output to a log file"
5. Uncheck all "events to log" except CD
6. Click "reset log file"
7. Click Ok
8. Now click the burn button
9. After the error occurs, go back to Help/Configure debug logging and click on "view current log file"
10. Save this text file somewhere and email it to johnt @ jriver.com (you may want to zip the text file first)

Also, please post your system info here (Help/System info)

Thanks,
John T.

Here is sytem info.  Will send email shortly.  When I put it on test mode I don't get command sequence error, instead it hangs at point when it would have.  MC is not frozen, just burning.

Thank you,
Jason
