Bugs in MJ8.0.372
« on: September 22, 2002, 07:17:20 am »

Hi,

I'm kind of new to this forum. I might report something that has already been reported, but kind find a 'bug list'. Don't shoot the messenger please ;D.

Paul.

Bug list for 'MEDIA JUKEBOX' v. 8.0.372

  • The 'Get' in the 'Media File Properties' window crashes in 'twain_32.dll'.  I used the debug facility of 'Visual Studio' and skipped several instructions. The program works fine  after having done that on each next press on the 'Get' button.
  • Now and then the properties of a track are composed wrong with the information imported from 'YADB'.

    • Most tracks have the following properties:

      • Name

      • Artist

      • Album

    • 1 track is composed wrong it has the following properties (missing):

      • Name (composed of <track #> <Name>)

      • Artist missing

      • Album missing

  • Setting the 'Output - bitdepth' to 32 bits has an effect on the 'crossfading'. Numbers are not faded out and in. (this also sometimes happens when setting the 'Output - bitdepth' to 'Source bitdepth' (which is logical of cource)).
  • Importing information from 'CDDB' gives status: 'Malformed command sent from server to client'.
  • Calculating 'Replay Gain' sometimes gives a gain of +51. Recalculation gives the right 'Replay Gain'.
  • Not all the 'Media Library' trees are updated correctly after deleting members from another tree.
  • Submitting info to the 'YADB' results in an 'XML parser error' (not otherwise specified).

We're on build 375 now.  Message at the top.

Replay gain is not an exact science.

CDDB may no longer be serving new customers for us.

Try 375 for the YADB problem.  Otherwise, I'm not sure.  It is working.

The Twain problem could be scanner related.

Jim,

Wow, You're fast!

To show how fast I can be. Here's my reply.

Paul.

>> Replay gain is not an exact science.

Yep, I agree. But the routine should give the same result every time, don't you agree?

>> CDDB may no longer be serving new customers for us.

Does that explain the error I reported?

>> Try 375 for the YADB problem.  Otherwise, I'm not sure.  It is working.

I'll do that and report back if the problem persists.

>> The Twain problem could be scanner related.

I don't have a scanner. I do have a webcam however. I've been programming some 'twain' related solutions myself. The problems were always with me, if I had a problem with it!

You don't mention the other bugs. Are they new to you? (is there a bug list?).

I have some of the same troubles.  I have an existing CDDB registration but it doesn't work with MJ.  When I switch to YADB, the error remains identical.
I've upgraded to 375 and makes no difference on CDDB or YADB settings.
HELP!!!  I hate manually entering CD info when I rip...
