Nevo devices
« on: April 30, 2006, 11:53:41 am »

Is anyone successfully using a WiFi nevo with MC?  This seems like the perfect marriage for wirelessly accessing and controlling music and photo's, but I cant get it to work right.  Perhaps as UPnP matures this may improve.

But, for now, anyone having luck?

Thanks,

Scott

I tried it and could get it to work sometimes.  I think user Lunchmeatvoom also had some success.  You could check his posts.  Try a search for Nevo.  I think it was about a year ago.

I've replied to Scott offline...

I haven't played with Nevo for some time...but I will check it out again...my wife now has the HP Ipaq with Nevo on it, and she doesn't use it for such things, it is now an electronic shopping list with some cool games on it 8-)

I assume that you have no problems actually getting your PocketPC connected wirelessly to your LAN, get an IP address assigned etc etc.?

Scott,

I just fired up my HP Ipaq with Ipaq Mobile Media (Nevo) on it.

I established the WLAN connection, then fired up the "Media Stream" function...

In the uPNP server window in MC I saw this as I browsed my collection and chose a track to play...

I must say..I find it fairly slow to browse my library (~33000 tracks), and it IS a bit flaky playing tracks, but it does work just fine.

I seem to recall someone else asked about Nevo...and theirs would not work, but it was a different model of Ipaq, with a different version of Nevo.

I'm not overly impressed with the kind of support that Nevo dishes out - They ought to take a leaf out of JRiver's book...

cheers

Hi Lunch...

Can you post your UPnP Server Settings for the Nevo? I'll add it to the list of devices that are recognized...

Thanks.

Allow Visual Content should only be set for devices that can show pictures and/or movies. Is the Nevo one of these? Or is it audio only?

Also, I don't like to set the Skip Child Count option unless it's absolutely necessary. Did you try without this one?

Thanks,

j

I have the actual nevo device but it will not connect using the above settings.  All I get is cannot autodetec device".  Perhaps it is too slow but I could pull up lists while on my deck.
