Navigating MC (bi-directional filtering?)
« on: May 08, 2006, 02:06:54 pm »

Can anyone enlighten me as to the MC behavior of switching tile schemes...if I search for an artist and then decide to switch schemes I lose my search and revert to the main view shceme. On a similar note, sometimes back commands seem to cycle through mouse clicks, I think this is mostly with Playing Now.

I must have missed the discussion of bi-directional filtering, if that's even what it's called; someone care to explain if I am making terms up here or remembering correctly?

Regardless, I'm confused if this is by design because previously MC seemed to be more intuitive and helpful when navigating Tiles, and during normal browsing. Now I find myself unused to this behavior as I have been away from MC for a bit...I keep resetting my View schemes...is their a toggle that allows for some continuity between various view states..e.g. Panes/Artists/Albums etc. ??

thanks

First of all, make sure you're using a current build...

I think the discussion you want is on the thread right here, about the new search bar functionality (and another, slightly older one here).  And datdude posted a simple example of the search functionailty here.

There is also a discussion of Bi-Directional Filtering (which doesn't have much to do with the search bar) in this thread here, and an older discussion of the old Bi-Directional Links system here.

Right click on a viewscheme and view its properties. Here you can turn bi-directional filtering on and off. I have it on for all of my viewschemes because it is so lovely lovely.
