MJ 11 and multizone setup??
« on: May 16, 2006, 08:26:07 am »

Hi
I currently run MJ11 with Linksys WMB54g in another room as a wireless zone2 and control the music from another room via Netremote.

All works fine but now I want to put two more remote zones and control the music play via Netremote.

I am thinking of buying one of each Roku M500 and Philips Streamium, so can someone help on how do I set these devices as remote zone with MJ11 and control the music play via Netremote???

MC does not have the ability to push music to UPnP players.  You have to control the music from the device itself.

I am really curious about the linksys device.  You mentioned you have it set up as a second zone.  Can you do this and still get normal/zone 1 sounds to your PC speakers?

I've been considering buying one of these but havent been able to get a straight answer to this question...  If I can use my PC speakers at the same time as I stream another zone to the linksys, Ill order one right away.

Thanks.

Yes, the Linksys WMB54g works perfect; I have zone1 as local soundcard and zone2 as remote Linksys, I can control each zone with Netremote and play music without any problem.

PC sound and Audio device properties:
-------------------------------------------------
Sound playback:
Default device: C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio

my MC11 setting are as follows;

Under Options menu ->
------------------------------

Output mode: Direct Sound
Output mode setting:

Device: C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio
Channels: Default

Under Player --> Playback options ---> Zone Manager
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone1 is set as --> Output mode : Wave Out
Output mode setting : Device : Wave mapper(recommended)

Zone2 is set as -->Output mode : Direct sound
Output mode setting: Device: C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio
                               Channels: Default

Only problem is that Linksys allows just one client ( I haven't tried more than two clients) so I need to find another two clients that will allow me to add 2 zones and give me music control via Netremote.

hope this helps.
