Media Server problem with Pocket PC connected
« on: June 01, 2006, 06:12:57 pm »

I have a weird problem with Media Server on xppro.  A remote xppro wireless pc can connect to and use it fine except when a Pocket PC (Verizon 6700) is connected (via ActiveSync using USB) to the pc on which Media Server is running.

When this happens, the remote pc finds the Media Server but then throws an error that there was a problem connecting to it.  It's like the remote pc is trying to connect to the Pocket PC instead of the Media Server pc.

The pc's are on a 192.168.x.x subnet, and the Pocket PC is getting its own 169.254.x.x ip from xppro.

Did you try a different port for Media Server?

I'm sorry, I meant Library Server.  Yes, I've tried setting it to both Auto and manually setting specific ports.

The exact sequence of messages on the remote pc is:

- Attempting to find Media Server

- Connecting to server, please wait

- Media Center failed to load the library 'Search for Media Servers' and will attempt to load the previously selected library'

And, if I simply undock the Pocket PC from the pc running the Library Server the remote pc finds the Library Server fine on the next connection attempt.
