These things keep auto-generating periodically...

Is there any way to stop them from being created to begin with??

Thanks!

Only if you don't play anything.  Sorry.  There's no other way.

Actually, Jim, if you delete the "Recent Playing Now's" Playlist group... That should fix it.

I actually can't get mine to come back!

Nevermind.  This used to work (probably pre-11.1), however it has changed somewhat.  Mine are not preserved when MC is closed and re-opened though.  In fact, the entire "Recent Playing Now's" playlist group disappears when I quit/re-launch MC, and only reappears after I've played something.

Is there some setting I'm missing to have these preserved?

I tried that, but it does seem to come back after a while - I'm not sure what triggers it.

Any chance of adding an option to turn that feature off in a future version?

Where would I request such a thing?

No.  Too many options make too much confusion.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this by design?

That's too bad...

I use MC for my whole house audio, and those playlists do nothing but get in the way.

Putting an option somewhere in the preferences shouldn't be a hassle.

Hopefully they change their mind....

I don't agree with this in MC's case. MC is the swiss-army-knife of media players. It's a complicated, powerful piece of software not really aimed at the novice IMO. This is why I like it so much. You can do anything with it and a lot of that is driven by the configuration and options it offers.

Agreed. I'd really like to have this option, and I don't see how it would create much confusion.

It's by design.

Upon opening MC, there are no 'recent playing now's'
If you have playing now populated, and don't change it, there will continue to be no 'recent playing now's'
As soon as you make a change to the playing now playlist, the list that went before is saved to 'recent playing now's', as is every subsequent change made to playing now.
The saved playlists are removed when MC is closed and the process starts over when it's next launched.

Everyone using MC already accepts its overwhelming ability to do anything the user wants and that's the only reason we pay for something we could get for free (iTunes) and have a simple interface.

In short, a simple interface = iTunes.
A complicated, bloated, but fast and rich interface = MC.
