CD Player - Digital or Analog?

There are some people who have issues with trying to play CD's. I just bought a new 40X burner that would burn (at 40X), and rip. But playing a CD was a frustrating experience. Selecting analog produced no sound even though the counter was counting. Selecting digital playback produced skips and generally weird behavior.
Here's what finally worked:
Select "digital playback" in Control Panel/Multimedia Properties/CD Music and  de-select "digital playback" in Media Jukebox Options/Device Settings.
Strange but playback from a CD in the CD drive is smooth. Unfortunately, I don't think the DSP works in that case but you take what you can get, eh?

You are reading the box to us.

First a cd at x40 may make the cd drive to EXPLOSE.So they never turn at x40.

If your drive rip at x15 up to  x22,you are lucky.
And to get this speed,you may need to install"underground' programs

I have a x48 cd-r,i get x16 up to x18

with a x36,x15 speed is good performance.

Will post links to speed tester and accelerator.

Not now,4'oclock in the morning,just coming back from an "after Yom Kipour" chill-out: 8 bands live .After a 25 hours of  total fast-no found,no drink,no cigarettes,no music,no internet,i feel really very funny...

No 40X? Maybe not. It came with Nero and that had a couple of test utilities that also said it was burning at 40X. MJ also reported a burn at this speed. EAC also said 40X. I really haven't actually checked the time ratio with a watch. I'm not being facetious ... I will probably do that.

I was speaking about rip speed.
I do not know about burn.

Did you burn at x40?
If yes,there is not artefact,no clip on the cd?

Beside this some drives really work at the speed they say-or more or less-
Will post a link to speed tester today.

When trying the analog playback, did you have the analog cable connected from the back of the CD drive to the "CD Input" on your sound card.  I forget this cable all the time.

The only connections on my hpcdwriter 8200 is two speaker jacks, one in the front and one in the back. I connected a speaker cord from the drive to my sound card and still nothing.
