I'm going to try to give an answer on point, in spite of the dreadful superfluage of polls, bunions, etc.

Overwhelmingly, I use MC for organizing audio tracks. However, I'm trying it out on imagery, including sequential image files for video. The results so far have been very positive.

In bits and drabs, I'm adding doc files and spreadsheets. I think the hints that we've gotten so far about features in MC12 (otto-import, for example) would add considerably to the functionality of MC as a hard-drive cataloguer.

Extending on this, I'd like to see more support for files downloaded from www.gutenberg.org. These are classic novels now out of copyright, which originate as text files with minimal formatting. I think in 11.1 the whole idea of cataloguing documents kind of went away, and hopefully MC 12 brings back more functionaility in that area.

Audio and Video handling was the entire reason I switched to MC (MJ at the time) in the first place. Image handling was just a bonus.

For images I use ThumbPlus7 as it can use an SQL Server for large databases and kick's MC backside

(to be fair - it was designed for the job and MC wasn't)

To me, I use the best tool for the job. In my opinion, MC is definitely the best for Audio and Photoshop Elements is the best for images. I don't have enough videos to manage, but for watching them is something like WinDVD. Sometimes a "jack of all trades, master of none" is not the best.

While I do use MC for some image management, I am often torn between functionality I want (but that MC doesn't offer) and the convenience of using a single app to manage all my media. I've ended up switching back and forth every few months... Another app I've used (similar to ThumbsPlus) is GraphicConverter which is very nice.

For Audio and Video management there's simply nothing better. My top priority would be to see improved Video playback options and controls (ala TheaterTek, VLC, and Media Player Classic), and vastly improved Theater View/TV/DVR capabilities (ala SageTV/BeyondTV).

MC plays audio and lets me access/slice/dice my library. Other tools acquire and tag the files.
FastStone shows me pictures and rotates/resizes when needed. I own ThumbsPlus but haven't installed it in recent builds of my system.
VLC is usually my video player. I try Nero ShowTime on occasion but find it loses sync.

I'm still gunning for an audio only version of MC.

Ditto that.

I would like to use MC to serve pictures to my 2 TiVo's but until it supports the reading of IPTC metadata (like keyword tags from Photoshop Elements), it is useless to me for that purpose.

As far as videos, I get an error every time MC attempts to play any video I've ever tried. It's easier just to use Nero Showtime or PowerDVD which has always worked, although I don't view many videos on my PC.

I Have About 5 Audio Libraries, One Of Them (The Largest) Has Some Images (maybe 20,000+ Images And 150,000+ Mp3's) This One Contains The Largest Collection Of Old Radio Shows Including 6,000+ 33 1\3 Record Labels From Old Radio Shows (1930's to 1960's).

I voted "Audio/Images/Video (different libraries)", but the correct choice would have been "Audio/Images/Video/Documents (several different libraries that contain various media types".

Better image tagging would be good. I have not properly tagged my personal images yet. I would probably do that if MC had support for universally usable matadata. So far I have tagged only my collection of over 6000 cover art images. If any changes are going to be made a discussion of the used standards would be welcomed. At least EXIF writing should be supported.

I would also like to see a quick right-click image monitor. It could be a floating pop-up window that can be zoomed with the plus and minus keys. The Action Window image display is too small and static for checking details or quickly showing images to others. This "quick monitor" should be separate from the Playing Now display. Playing Now may have other tasks running at the same time.

I have no problems with video playback. MC works like my other playback programs and I can also pass DD and DTS audio to my HT receiver. In case I need to use an external player I can always do "right-click > sent to external".

I watch full-length DVD movies usually with a standard stand-alone DVD player (it has a bit better output quality than my HTPC), but I have found MC's library very useful for ripped or recorded TV series. Here is a sample of my collection of 110 "Babylon 5" episodes:

As yould I, there is still work to be done here.

MC is set up to work best with audio, it's possible JRiver could come up with a unified interface for images & video, but it might be a bit too hard. Think of best of breed in these mediums and the interfaces & feel are different as like MC they are designed to work best in thier chosen field. Trying to accomodate them might mean making compromises that will be hard to swallow.

Images is certainly doable. Video i think there is very big gap to catch up with.
