Getting Started With Streamium
« on: August 28, 2006, 05:07:31 am »

Hi All,
Just downloaded MC and am hoping to use with my streamium 400.  At the moment the streamium isn't seeing MC though.  It's still only picking up philips media manager.  Is there something else I need to do?  Please note I am not a computer programmer so any answers in english would be appreciated!!

 ;D

Thanks, Lee

In MC's tree on the left, under services and plug-ins, select the UPnP server, set the options you want and start it.

What I should have said is that I did the expected set up and my streamium isn't finding MC.  I know it is connecting to my computer though, as it is finding media manager.  I was a little confused by the options when I did the set up. I set it up as follows

convert audio if necessary
MP3 encoder
I did not specify a port (it used 2224)
receiver name "philips streamium"
and the boxes that are checked are
include session ID
allow visual content
filter international characters
all the rest are unchecked

is that right?  If not I am lost as it can't see the MC

Thanks. Lee

Did you also start the UPnP server?

If so, there may be a firewall problem.

If you know which port the Streamium server software is using on your PC, you could use it (after you stop the server software).

I started the server and I have made sure both the microsoft and mcafee firewalls are turned off.  Do you know how I find out which port the philips server is using?

Try a forum.  www.streamiumcafe.com, I think was one.

Or a google search for "port" or "socket"

It may just run on port 80.

I have looked through the server settings on the Philips Media Manager and it says to make sure ports 1900, 49152, 49153 and 49154 are open.  Does it use more than one?  Anyway I changed the MC port to 1900.  I also shut down media manager and BINGO!!

Now I'm going to have a play and see what it can do.  Thanks for your help!!
