MC & Ringtones?
« on: September 01, 2006, 05:50:42 am »

I actually am looking for a way to send a bit of my music to my cell phone as a ringtone without paying $1-$3 each time in doing it.

it would be nice if we could us MC to send a 30 second bit to our cell phones.

Just an Idea

Good idea.  How's the hurricane?

not bad, got some rain

some places that normally flood, is flooded

they were letting water out for the past few days of some dams to avoid busted dams. a few years ago 3-4 dams broke around here and it was a mess, some of them are still not fixed. the main one not fixed is in Hope Miles, kind of connected to fayetteville, nc

But 87,000 without power this morning

I am lucky i live near a sub station (maybe 1\2 of a mile) so i normally always have power.

How about:

Options > Playback > Output Mode: Disk Writer (Output mode settings has an option for breaking output into individual tracks.)

Player menu > Playback Options > Preview Mode 30s etc.

After that you can compress the resulting wave file(s) with usual tools.

Most cell phones are different in the way they handle adding ringtones. You need to determine how you would do so on your particular phone. I would suggest searching the forums at one of these phone sites for an answer:
http://www.howardforums.com/
http://www.modaco.com/

Once you find out how you can transfer ringtones to your phone, then you can look for a solution from MC.

I assumed that you have already tried to upload a manually edited file.

I meant the Disk Writer procedure as a bit easier way to make a few short clips that you can use before JRiver has the new amazing ringtone module ready.  :)

By tools I meant MC's converter and copy tools.

Did you check from the phone manual if it a PC can connect it and upload ringtones?

I can feel your pain.  I'm doing my instrument check ride today -- in at least two parts.

My phone can play MP3 ringtones.   I used MC Editor to clip the middle of a song and do Save As.  I would recommend using a smaller segment.  It takes a phone a while to load MP3s.  Also, you can save it a lower fidelity to save space.

Then I used my phone connected as a USB drive and loaded them up.

Do you do that at night too?

When I flew my OH58 A\C we had to do it in the day and at night with NVG's

at night your flying with NVG's you then fly into a cloud, then they reach in back of your helmet and turn off your NVG's then your out there blinded for a good 5 min's or so and you fly from there with gages requesting help from the control tower and fly back to the air field until you can see the ground again.

they had a blinder you had to put on your helmet that kept you from looking outside.

I hated it at night.

I hated the whole thing, from beginning to end, but it's over now.  The examiner turned 77 today and he had an appointment with his cake.  I'm in.

Night or day wouldn't matter much.  I did about 40 hours under a hood.  I could see the instruments.  That was it.  I still have a lot to learn, but I'm ecstatic to be out from under the Darth Vader hood.

Here's the guy who did it to me today:

He was the whole range: tyrant to tike.  I'm a better person now.

I know what you mean

My IP was a retired CW4 that flew cobras in Vietnam.

He went from nice to an total ass when he was giving you a check ride. some of the guys with me refused to fly with him.

All of my other IP's were OK, nice and calm.

That store (cellcables.com) claims this:

"Transfer MP3 Real Music Ringtones to Phone (max size 3000kb)"

I have no idea if the claim is true.

It may be, but the book tells you nothing.

My Cell Phone Mishaps:

I went to the bathroom and dropped it into the toilet bowl, since i just got that phone cause the other stopped working they did not give me a discount on my phone for the next one. and i did not have insurance on it.

About a month later I wanted to heat up my coffee, so i put my coffee cup or what i thought was my coffee cup in the microwave.

When I turned i noticed my coffee cup was still in my hand. i then wondered what i put in the microwave and just then a bright flash was seen and a loud "Boom" sound was heard throughout the housing area.

Opening up the microwave it was too late for my phone and my microwave. so did i not only need to buy a phone but i had to buy a microwave. not just any microwave my wife wanted the exact same model.

So after finding out they no longer made that model she found 3 in some warehouse in Charlotte north Carolina. so she had Lowe's ship it to us. I picked it up and drove it home.  After I plugged it in I found it was defective, so sue took it back to Lowe's.

At first they did not want to get us a new one, but sue gets nasty so she asked for 1. the store manager, and the corporate phone number. It did not take long for them to take the microwave back and order the other one that was left in the warehouse in Charlotte north Carolina. this one worked and she was happy.

AT&T would not replace the phone because it was not insured against putting it in the microwave, only if i lost it. so i told them i lost it. they told me since i already told them i put it in the microwave it was not covered for microwave abuse.

I then asked if i could have a $50 discount.  They said i could not get a discount because I just got a discount for another phone and it was within 12 months since I had gotten a discount. So I had to pay full price.

About a month later, I had the phone and insurance for it including mishaps. the cat decided he wanted more room on the counter so he pushed my new phone into the cat water bowl.

So the Insurance company sent me a new phone that I have now, camera, Internet (that I don't use since I can't hardly see the screen).

This phone is not as good as the last phone that I paid $300 for, and have had this one for like 8 months.

 ;D

I have found myself a bit absent-minded at times too.

The latest incident was at our summer cottage a couple of weeks ago. The cottage is about 50 miles from the city in the countryside. It was sunday evening, we were leaving and I was packing things into the car. After putting the last packages in I closed the back hatch. At the same moment I realized that I don't have the car key in my hand. I had placed the key inside the back of the car to free my hands. The car doors were locked (not necessary there, but I had locked them without thinking twice). Our cell phones, home keys, cottage keys and wallets were inside the car too. I didn't want to smash a car window or anything like that. So I started to walk towards the nearest country house, which is several miles away. After walking a couple of miles I met someone on the road who had a cell phone. I called my sister and she drove to the cottage with a spare car key about three hours later.

King, I've been using MC Media Editor to crop sections of songs down to low levels and send them to my Nokia for Ringtones for two weeks now .. .works GREAT !!!! ... I just have to send them via IR or Bluetooth externally .. and save the ringtone as a small mp3 excerpt!
