Indicating no cover art
« on: September 01, 2006, 05:22:41 pm »

Since I have so many pieces of music in my MC system, its always difficult to know which has cover art attached to the song or not without going through every line.

Is it possible to put an asterick somewhere, this can be an option, showing that there is no cover art attached to song.
That way I would know that I will have to get cover art for that song/album.

Thanks, Skylar

You can also add "image file" to any view, even temporarily to fix up your album art. I've created an audio view for files imported today with image file as part of the view. I can quickly see what may be missing album art or has it "inside file" so I can move it outside.

The way I handle it is through smartlists.

If you create a smartlist based on the tag info KingSparta referenced, it will list everything missing the cover art.

I'm sorry but I don't know how to do this.  Can you please give me some step by steps on how to accomplish this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Skylar

There is a standard (pre-supplied) smartlist you can use.

It is called "Missing Cover Art".

To find it, you have to go to the navigation pane.  This is where you see the following sections:

Playing Now
Audio
Images
Video
Playlists
Devices & Drives
Services & Plug-ins

Go to Playlists.
Under Playlists you will see Smartlists - select this
Under smartlists you will see "Missing Cover Art" - select this

Didn't find 'missing cover art'  in the drop downs but did find 'audio - task - no images'.  Is this is what you meant?

Thanks, Skylar

Sorry, you are correct.

I actually have both.  I created my own a long long time ago.  Then JR added the same one (under the name you found) as a standard pre-supplied smartlist.

So the name I gave you was the one I created.  The name you found was the one provided by JR.

Now you have started using smartlists.  The are very powerful and you can make them up yourself.

If you look at the one you were just working with – look right above the track pane – you will see what the smartlist is doing.

Media Type: audio imagefile=[]

There are 2 parts to this smartlist – the first part says only take audio – the second part says take tracks where the tag for imagefile is blank.  Imagefile is the tag used for cover art.

So if you want to try the next step – go to the same smartlist – put the curser just to the right of:

Media Type: audio imagefile=[] X

This is where I put the X.

Click the right mouse button and a window comes up. Pick a field, like artist, and you can now customize this smartlist to add more criteria.
