(Dutch) Podcasts don't download
« on: September 12, 2006, 02:43:47 pm »

Today I upgraded to 11.1.196, not 11.1.197 (?). Podcasts don't work any longer for Dutch podcasts. This is the errormsg I get: XML Field Error: channel tag=pubDate value=

I'd appreciate some help.

TIA & regards,

If other podcasts work, it may mean that the feed has changed.  Try deleting the feed and adding it again.

Is it more than one or two feeds?

Yes, there are 3 of them. I tried to download the feeds in a different app and they work fine there. Since the errormsg mentions something of a date and the Dutch datenotation is different (MMDDYY), I gathered that maybe some dateformat has changed in the latest version. BTW, note that my version of MC (d'loaded today) says 11.1.196 instead of 11.1.197.

Thanks,

I don't think anything has changed in our podcasting for a couple of months.

Are the feeds from the same source?

Some podcasters use non-standard dates.

Feeds are from the same source, but have been working for some time, about 9 months or so. I initially believed the cause to be the feeds, too but then when I tested them in FeedDemon they worked fine.

Does the errormsg give any clue?

Thanks,

Could you post the URL to a couple of the Podcasts so we can test?

Also, Podcasts should use the standard RFC822 for dates, so a Dutch coloring of the date would be a bug by the Podcaster.

Ok.

BTW, it seems that you could be right - other Dutch podcasts download ok - just these not.

Thanks.

MC v11.1 requires that the pubDate for the entire Podcast be filled in.  This is the date the Podcast was last updated.

MC v12 (now in closed beta) will be more tolerant of these Podcasts, although the best solution is still for the Podcast to contain the date.

Thanks for your explanation. So what do I do? Can I edit something by hand or do I have to write to the publisher?

TIA,
