It seems, based on the point of entry, that the "shuffled" music will playback on TiVo in exactly the same order. For example, if I play from my music root 3 songs (out of 10,000 +), exit to live TV then play again from the root, the same songs will play back exactly in the same order. The only way it changes is if I select a different grouping -- all songs or all artists, etc.

I know a running list of music is in the TiVo Server log... is there any way to automatically expire this "cache" (for lack of better terminology) as I get exactly the same playback on both my TiVos if I enter it the same way. I would love if it could reinitialize the order each time... Stopping/Starting the server seems to force it to do so, but I'd prefer something less invasive.

How are you shuffling? Is it on the TiVo or through a smartlist?

I don't think we can affect that. Instead, create a smart list with random shuffling, and use that...

I'll try the smartlist, but this does not occur with TiVoDesktop (or Galleon for that matter). It can be reset with the server, so doesn't it follow that it would be the server who controls this behavior?

Try this: navigate to a completely different portion of the tree, and then back, then see if they play in the same order...

Yep, that did it. When I browsed other parts of tree and tried again it got an entirely new order, as predicted. Any insight as to why this is?

The TiVo asks for a playlist multiple times, and I have to remember somehow to give it the same list in the same order. So I do it by monitoring the browsing - going too far away means it's no longer asking for the same order.
